Custom Shop FAQ

What is the process to order and build a Custom Rod?

  • We start with a no obligation conversation about what you're looking for in a custom fly rod. Some things we'll consider are:

    • Where will you be using the rod? Large rivers, small streams, saltwater flats, lakes, ponds?

    • What species will you be targeting? What size are those fish?

    • How will you be using the rod? Will it primarily be used for dry flies, nymphs, streamers, all of the above?

    • We'll discuss blank material, length, weight, finish type and color. Reel seat type and reel seat insert. Grip shape and grade. Your preferences for thread wrap color and materials. Guide type and color.

    • How do you want to personalize the information on your rod?

    • Based on your preferences, we'll work together to come up with your custom rod design.

How long will it take to complete my rod?

  • We can generally complete your custom build within 2 - 4 weeks from the time your order is placed. Custom rods built on blanks or using components not currently in stock may take longer.

  • We'll communicate with you throughout the process to keep you informed as to how the build is proceeding and send you pictures as the rod is being built to make sure you're getting exactly what you want.

  • We have access to blanks from other manufacturers as well, so if you don't see what you want on this list, reach out to us and we'll work with you to find what you're looking for.
